Therapeutic Outdoor Programs for Veterans & Active-Duty Military Service Members
Our Fly Fishing for Veterans program offers a unique opportunity for veterans and their families to experience healing through the natural serenity of Maine’s outdoors. Fly fishing provides a calming, mindful experience that encourages emotional recovery, stress relief, and reconnection. In a peaceful, supportive setting, participants rediscover balance and strength while engaging in guided sessions designed to nurture overall well-being. Yet this program is far more than fishing—it’s about community, camaraderie, and belonging. Veterans and their families share meaningful experiences together, strengthening bonds and supporting one another on their path to healing. With the guidance of trained staff and volunteers, each participant receives personalized attention and care, ensuring that both new and experienced anglers feel welcomed and supported. Beyond skill-building, every cast becomes a step toward reducing anxiety, alleviating PTSD symptoms, and fostering emotional resilience. At River’s Bend Trout–Sebec (RBT-S), we honor the service of our nation’s heroes by providing them with the space, tools, and community to heal—one cast at a time.

Therapeutic Fly Fishing Programs for Educators
When you dedicate your energy to nurturing young minds every day, it’s easy to forget to nurture your own. Fly Fishing for Educators is a restorative program created exclusively for teachers, administrators, and school staff, offering a peaceful retreat within the natural beauty of Maine. This is your opportunity to cast away the cumulative stress of the school year—the lesson planning, long days, and emotional weight that come with caring deeply for your students. The rhythmic and contemplative aspects of fly fishing provide an effective countermeasure to burnout. With each cast, you’re invited to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with the moment. Immersed in the serenity of the outdoors—far from bells, screens, and deadlines—you can decompress, reflect, and rediscover your inner balance. At River’s Bend Trout–Sebec (RBT-S), we believe that to inspire others, you must first be inspired. To fill others’ cups, your own must be full. We are in the process of expanding River’s Bend Trout–Sebec (RBT-S) to further enrich the experience for our participants and guests. New developments will include tent platforms, small cabins, and supporting facilities—each thoughtfully designed to enhance our on-site programs and offer comfortable, nature-immersed accommodations that will also be available for rental. In addition to our therapeutic recreation programs, RBT-S will soon introduce hands-on farming and educational initiatives focused on self-sufficiency, sustainability, and deeper connections with the natural world.
